Power Vented Water Heaters

A power vented water heater has a fan on the top of the tank that pulls the combustion gas out of the tank and vents it through a PVC pipe that goes outside.  As with a standard water heater, most tanks come with a 6 year warranty but an option of up to 10-12 years is available.

On-Demand Water Heaters

On-demand or tankless water heaters provide hot water only when it is needed.  With an on-demand water heater, the energy to heat your home’s hot water can be cut by about 25%.  However, water conditions should also be considered when considering an on-demand water heater. Mineral deposits are of particular concern because they will reduce the life span of the water heater due to build-up. Rebates from utility companies are often available to help offset the cost of these water heaters.

Standard Water Heaters

A standard water heater, or atmospherically vented water heater, is typically routed into your home's chimney.  They can be natural or propane gas or oil-fired.  Most standard hot water tanks come with a 6-year warranty.  An option of up to 10-12 years can be purchased.

Another form of a standard water heater is electric. These units look similar to the standard and power vented models but you won’t find any gas lines or venting.  As of April 2015, all-electric water heaters over 55 gallons must be an air source heat pump type.  These water heaters are more efficient, using less electricity.

Indirect Water Heaters

Also called a storage tank, an indirect water heater has a heating coil built inside the tank. Hot water from a hydronic boiler is circulated through the coil to heat all the water in the tank. An indirect water heater provides an abundant amount of hot water, has a long life span and low operating costs.  Most indirect water heaters have a lifetime warranty on the tank.  As with the on-demand water heaters, rebates from utility companies are often available.

Repairs

In some instances, your water heater may just have a defective part that needs to be replaced.  Our trained technicians will assess the problem and make the appropriate recommendation.

Automatic Safety Shut-Off Devices

When it comes to preventing property damage caused by a leaking water heater, an automatic safety shut-off device can help.

An unattended home is vulnerable to a leak from a water heater - turning into a full-blown disaster as water flows unabated in your home for hours or even days! Designed to detect the presence of water beneath the water heater, these devices automatically shut off the cold water supply and power source to the water heater, providing dependable flood control and peace of mind.

These devices are a valuable investment and can be installed by our technicians on new water heaters or easily retrofitted onto an existing water heater.
